Bearings are one of the core components of mining machinery, directly affecting the operational efficiency, stability, and service life of the equipment. The working conditions of mining machinery usually have characteristics such as high load, strong impact, high dust, humidity and vibration, so the bearing capacity, wear resistance, sealing and anti pollution ability of bearings are highly required. The following are the main application scenarios and specific types of bearings in mining machinery:

1、 Application of bearings in crushing equipment

Crushing equipment is the first key process in mining, used to crush large ores into smaller particles, with bearings serving as the core transmission and support.

Jaw crusher

Application parts: Moving jaw shaft, eccentric shaft, bearing seat.

Bearing type: Double row spherical roller bearings (self-aligning roller bearings) are mainly used, which have high radial bearing capacity and automatic self-aligning function, can compensate for installation errors and shaft deflection during equipment operation, and adapt to impact loads during crushing.

Characteristics: It needs to withstand strong impact and compression loads during ore crushing, and requires bearings to have good impact resistance and wear resistance.

Bearing type:

The main shaft support often uses double row tapered roller bearings or spherical roller bearings to withstand radial and axial composite loads;

Characteristics: The equipment has a high rotational speed, and the bearings need to withstand both radial loads and axial thrust simultaneously, with high requirements for accuracy and heat dissipation.

2、 Application of bearings in conveying equipment

Conveyor equipment is used to transport crushed ore and materials to subsequent processes (such as screening and beneficiation), and bearings need to adapt to the requirements of long-distance and continuous operation.

Bearing type:

Roller bearings are mostly single row tapered roller bearings or stamped outer ring needle roller bearings (lightweight, low friction, suitable for dusty environments).

Characteristics: The equipment runs for a long time, and the bearings need to have low friction, long life characteristics, and strengthened sealing to prevent dust from entering.

Scraper conveyor

Application parts: Chain wheel shaft, scraper chain support wheel.

Bearing types: self-aligning roller bearings (suitable for impact and bias loads in chain drives), cylindrical roller bearings (capable of withstanding radial heavy loads).

Characteristics: The working conditions are harsh (dusty, humid), and the bearings need to have strong sealing and corrosion resistance.

3、 Application of bearings in mining equipment

Equipment directly used for mining operations must operate stably under extreme working conditions.

Excavator/Loader

Application parts: boom hydraulic cylinder, bucket hinge point, slewing support, drive axle.

Bearing type:

The hinge point adopts joint bearings (allowing for large angle swinging and adapting to complex motion trajectories);

The slewing bearing adopts large cross roller bearings or four point contact ball bearings (to withstand composite loads of axial, radial, and overturning moments);

The drive axle uses tapered roller bearings (which transmit power and bear the vehicle's own weight and load).

Characteristics: It needs to withstand severe impacts and variable loads, and the bearing material requires high strength (such as carburized bearing steel).

4、 Application of bearings in screening and beneficiation equipment

For the grading, screening, and selection of ores, bearings need to ensure smooth operation of the equipment to improve sorting accuracy.

Bearing types: cylindrical roller bearings (radial support at high speeds), self-aligning roller bearings (adapted to eccentric loads caused by vibration), thrust ball bearings (bearing axial vibration loads).

Characteristics: The equipment experiences high-frequency vibration (large amplitude, high frequency), and the bearings need to have anti vibration fatigue performance and good lubrication sealing.

Ball mill/rod mill

Application parts: Hollow shafts at both ends of the cylinder and transmission gear shafts.

Bearing type:

Hollow shaft support adopts double row spherical roller bearings or sliding bearings (capable of bearing extremely large radial loads and the self weight of the cylinder);

The transmission system uses self-aligning roller bearings (compensating for gear meshing errors) and deep groove ball bearings (auxiliary support).

Characteristics: Low speed heavy load, bearings need to withstand huge radial loads, and adapt to dust and slurry pollution.

5、 Enhance the application of bearings in equipment

Used for vertical lifting of mining materials or personnel, with extremely high safety requirements.

Bearing type:

The main shaft adopts double row tapered roller bearings or spherical roller bearings (capable of bearing lifting loads and the weight of the drum);

The reducer uses tapered roller bearings (transmitting torque and bearing axial force) and cylindrical roller bearings (radial support).

Characteristics: Long term continuous operation is required, and bearing reliability is crucial. High precision grades (such as P5 grade) are usually used.

Scraper elevator

Application parts: Drive sprocket shaft, tensioner shaft.

Bearing types: self-aligning roller bearings (suitable for chain tension errors), cylindrical roller bearings (high load-bearing capacity).

Special requirements for bearings in mining machinery

Materials and processes: High carbon chromium bearing steel (such as GCr15SiMn) or carburized bearing steel (such as 20CrNi2Mo) is commonly used to improve hardness and wear resistance through quenching and tempering; Some extreme working conditions use ceramic bearings (high temperature resistant, corrosion-resistant).

Sealing and lubrication: Adopting double lip skeleton oil seal, labyrinth seal or high-pressure grease injection seal to prevent dust and slurry from entering; Lubrication often uses extreme pressure lithium based grease or synthetic grease to enhance anti-wear and anti pollution capabilities.

Structural design: Prioritize the use of self-aligning bearings (such as spherical roller bearings) to compensate for installation errors and shaft deflection; The heavy-duty part adopts a combination of multiple columns of bearings or thickened roller design to improve the load-bearing capacity.
